ATB and our accredited training providers offer a variety of training courses in Mountain Bike Trail Management; all training courses are assessed by SQA-accredited instructors to guarantee the highest standards.  Whether you are a large land management organisation or a fledgling volunteer group, we can help your organisation design, construct, and manage mountain bike facilities.

We have a suite of training courses covering the following topics:​

​

  • Trail maintenance basics

  • Trail inspection

  • Maintenance Coordinator

  • Boardwalk construction and maintenance

  • Trail building - design hand-cut trails

  • Trail building - hand-cut trails (practical)

  • Trail building - machine-built trails (theory) 

 

ABOUT BOOKING AND VENUES: (When booking directly with ATB)

Trail maintenance basics - Trail inspection - 

Maintenance Coordinator:

These training courses can be run at a venue of your choice, before booking you will need to make the following arrangements:

​

  • Written landowner consent to use the trails

  • Classroom facilities /covered area

  • Toilets

  • Somewhere to warm food (this could be a nearby cafe)

​

Due to the nature of these training courses, we do not offer individual bookings; The Maintenance basics, Trail inspection, and Maintenance coordinator courses are for up to a maximum of 10 participants, and it is the responsibility of the party booking the training to fill the available spaces, pricing is for training and assessment for the whole group. If you are struggling to find enough people to book a training day then get in touch and we may be able to put you in contact with other groups.

Trail design - Trail building:

These courses are open to individuals; the courses combine flexible home study and practical site visits, and site locations and dates may vary.
